FDL.png  Pack 65’s Successful Recruitment Night

Congratulations to Pack 65 from Auberry for their terrific recruiting efforts. The Pack hosted their very own carnival at the library where they meet complete with games, food, and an informational booth. This successful and fun event earned them 11 new youth and 2 new adults who signed up that night, and several others who would sign up at the following meeting. What a great idea to show off the fun of Cub Scouts!

FDL.png  Camp Chawanakee News

A wonderful Camperall was held at Camp on the weekend of October 23-25, 2015 with nearly 900 participants. Hat's off to chairman Mark Chadwick and his committee. A number of our Cub Scouts got a firsthand look at Camp Chawanakee, a vision of things to come in their Boy Scout careers ahead. Many of you saw the 11 new log cabins at Camp. These are available for weekend and week use. Just go to www.seabsa.org and click on the icon "Cabins at Chawanakee" and check availability. As well, most folks got a chance to see the land clearing for the new dining hall located near the current dining hall and occupying the camp that as Yosemite. Yosemite was moved to the Scoutcraft area earlier this year. There is a "Go Fund Me" account set up for the dining hall so please consider a donation to help us get the project fully funding. The plan is to begin construction in the spring of 2016 and the hall will take about 16 weeks to build. For further information about giving, please contact CEO/Scout Executive John Richers at 559-320-2100 or john.richers@scouting.org.

FDL.png  Cub Scout Adventure in Advancement

Message from our Council Advancement Chair, Lora Scott: As we start the new school year many Packs are also starting their calendars. There have been changes made to the Cub Scout program, primarily in terminology from working on Achievements to Having Adventures. Notice in both terms there is an action; we are not an organization of bench warmers or just showing up to receive recognition. How our Scouts receive recognition is by exploring the Adventures to earn their badge of rank, Bobcat, Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos and Arrow of Light. It is important that these Rank Advancements be earned and reported to the Council by filling out the Advancement record online. This record is important and will follow the Scout through his Scouting career.

There is concern in our council regarding Cub Scout Advancement. We are seeing only 60% of all Cub Scouts advancing their rank, down over 20% from last year. If there were ranks earned that have not been reported, please do so now. If the record-keeping seems to be a bit overwhelming, see if there is another adult that can help.  This is for the boys we serve.
