We are pleased to announce Steve Smith as our new Assistant Scout Executive effective August 16. Steve is coming to us from the Verdugo Hills Council in Glendale, CA. Steve has been a professional scouter for 18 years and began his career in Long Beach and then on to Orange County Council before going to Glendale. Steve will officially begin on August 16, 2015. Welcome Steve!

 

FDL.png  Club Chawanakee

Club Chawanakee is a weekend family camp designed for the entire family. Participants not only get to enjoy a family program, but also have tents and bedding provided as well as meals prepared. Session I meals begin with breakfast on Saturday and conclude with lunch on Sunday. Session II meals begin with breakfast on Saturday and conclude with lunch on Monday. Is your Youth Protection Training current? Charter time is right around the corner, so we want to make sure all of your leaders are current before crunch time. Remember youth protection training is valid for 2 years and can be taken at myscouting.org. Don’t wait till the last minute to ensure you are trained!

The Fresno Scout Office is now open until 6:00 pm each day Monday through Friday. After 5:00 pm, when you come into the foyer, simply ring the service bell at the front counter for assistance.

For your convenience, the Visalia Office and Trading Post will be open late the third Thursday of each month until 7:00 pm.

The Fresno Scout Shop hours are as follow: Monday to Wednesday and Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Thursdays 9:00 am to 7:00 pm, Saturdays 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Closed on Sundays.

In honor of Labor Day, our Fresno Service Center, Fresno Scout Shop, and Visalia Service Center will all be closed on Monday, September 7, 2015. We will reopen on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 for your convenience.

        

 

Training 
Every young person in the Scouting Program needs and deserves a leader who understands the aims of the program and knows how to deliver it with enthusiasm and fun – in short, a trained leader.

ALL.jpg  Wood Badge – Friday, September 11 - Sunday, September 13 and Friday, September 25 – Sunday, September 27, 2015

Wood Badge is the premier adult leadership development course for the Boy Scouts of America. Wood Badge is leadership training for all Scout Leaders who are involved in the programs of the Boy Scouts of America – Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting, Varsity Scouting, and Venturing, as well as council and district leaders, and professionals. The course fee is $250. A $50 deposit is due at the time the application is submitted.   Commissioner Basic Training – Saturday, September 12, 2015

Commissioners Basic Training will provide an orientation to new Commissioners about how to successfully coach a unit forward. This training is Saturday, September 12 at the Visalia Service Center at 8:00 am. All Commissioners and Roundtable Staff are welcomed to attend. New to Scouting? We will be offering 2 Adult Leader Trainings this Fall. Saturday, October 10, 2015 at San Joaquin Valley College, Visalia, CA Campus. Saturday, October 17, 2015 at San Joaquin Valley College, Fresno, CA Campus. These trainings are open to all new leaders. Registration will be at 7:30 am to 8:00 am with courses beginning at 8:00 am. CommissionerService.gif College of Commissioner Science – October 17, 2015

All Commissioners including Roundtable staff are encouraged and welcome to attend. This trainings goal is to further involve Commissioners in providing support to units in their delivery of a quality program experience for all youth in Scouting. Attention all Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Varsity Scouts, Venturers, and Explorers! Our Camporall will be held at Camp Chawanakee, 43485 Dinkey Creek Road, in Shaver Lake from October 23 to 25.
