The merge of Kings River and Mt. Whitney Districts is now official. With input from volunteers, the newly formed district has been named Riverbend. After months of running through names from local residents, the nominating committee has selected a new Chairman and Commissioner. Mark Millett from Lemoore is the new District Chair. He was the former Finance Chair for Kings River District. John Wright from Kingsburg has rejoined Scouting after an 8 year sabbatical as the new District Commissioner. Along with Senior District Executive Bobby Mollison, they will be the new district’s Key 3. Welcome aboard, Mark and John!

In honor of President’s Day, our Fresno Service Center, Fresno Scout Shop, and Visalia Service Center will all be closed on Monday, February 17, 2014. We will reopen on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 9:00 am for your convenience.

null Civics Day – Wednesday, February 5, 2014

For the past 88 years public officials have hosted the Boy Scouts in the Thunderbird District during National Boy Scout Week. This year’s 89th Annual Civics Day is Wednesday, February 5th, 2014. The luncheon will begin at noon at the Madera United Methodist Church. Civics Day is a great opportunity to positively impact the growth of our community. Troops, Teams and Crews are invited to participate in this winter adventure. Camp Chawanakee will be transformed into the Alaskan Yukon where Scouts will be traversing the frontier, going from town to town, testing their scout skills, competing for gold, and demonstrating the Patrol Method.
