The Sequoia Council Jamboree Committee is preparing for the 2017 National Boy Scout Jamboree (July 13-29, 2017). This will be the second Jamboree at the amazing Summit Bechtel Reserve located near Glen Jean, West Virginia. Because of the huge success we had in 2013, we will again be bringing a sixty-person contingent (52 scouts and 8 adult leaders) to the Jamboree. To be eligible for the Jamboree, scouts must have earned the First Class Rank and be at least 12 years of age by the first day of the Jamboree (July 19, 2017) or 11 years old and have completed the 6th grade.

The 17-day trip will include sightseeing in Philadelphia, Washington, DC, Virginia, and of course the 10-day Jamboree in West Virginia. The cost is $3995, which included transportation, lodging, food, touring, and the Jamboree. The fee schedule is available here 2017 Jamboree Payment Schedule. Payments can be made at the Fresno of Visalia Scout offices or online here Jamboree Online Payments for a nominal fee.

We will start having Jamboree Contingent meetings on the second Wednesday of each month starting September 14, 2016 at 7PM. By that time, we hope to have the Jamboree Contingent filled with 52 youth participants. We will hold three outings leading up to the Jamboree. These will be in October 28-30, 2016, February 3-5, 2017, and April 28-30, 2017.

Spots are filling up quickly, so if you would like to find out more about the jamboree or register online, please visit www.bsajamboree.org. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions. In addition, there will be a presentation held at the Fresno Scout Office Tuesday, June 14, at 7PM where we will provide information and answer questions about this once-in-a-lifetime event.
